Production

A database was build with a plethora of information on each of approximately 200,000 wells in Texas.  This included production rates and volumes, tests that had been run on the well, perforations, government classifications, etc.

Due to the volume and complexity of the data involved, a DBMS was used that assumed a hierarchical model.  Although this made creation of the database more arduous and demanding, access speeds were significantly enhanced.

Livesay managed and was involved in the development of the system which included the database itself (hosted on a VAX) and a profusion of tools developed over several years.  Information in this database was made accessible to a staff of petroleum and reservoir engineers.
